Frequently Asked Questions
What is Hypnotherapy?
The International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association defines hypnotherapy as an education communication process to a person's mind that allows his/her conscious and subconscious mind to receive the same message. The process produces an altered state of consciousness through physical and mental relaxation. The critical faculty of mind is by-passed and the subconscious openly receives the communication. At this time, the senses are in a state of heightened awareness. The mind will only accept that which goes along with the established morals and ethics. The person in a hypnotic state will respond only to suggestions with which he/she is in agreement. Desire, belief and expectancy are necessary for this altered state to have effect in the outer behavior of the individual.

What does it feel like?
There are many depths of hypnosis which are essentially different
levels of relaxation. The experience is often described as being
equivalent to the last 5 seconds before sleep. It is said that 15
minutes of hypnosis is like 4 hours of sleep so a session usually
leaves one feeling relaxed, calm, at ease and physically rejuvenated.

What is a typical session?
Hypnotherapy sessions are completely unique, though there is a general format that is followed. The initial appointment or consultation is a necessary and valuable meeting where the topic that the client wishes to address is discovered and discussed. Once the goals are communicated and understood an initial hypnosis session is done to prepare the client for the full-length session. The hypnotherapist then processes the information and creates a personalized script for the client.
When the client returns for their hypnotherapy session they are guided into a deep hypnotic state where the hypnotherapist is able to by-pass the critical faculty of the mind and access the sub-conscious where healing can occur, trauma released, positive messaging placed, and many more aspects that will aid the client on the journey to wellness.
